Farmstead Grill announced for Canton Crossing

Galen Sampson, formerly of The Dogwood, will open Farmstead Grill at Canton Crossing

The owners of Waterfront Kitchen have announced the concept for their upcoming project at the Shops at Canton Crossing, the new 325,000-square-foot-center retail center on Boston Street in Canton.

Farmstead Grill, a 200-seat restaurant featuring locally sourced food, will open in 2014 with Galen Sampson, former executive chef and owner of The Dogwood, which closed in March. Sampson will be the restaurant's executive chef and chief operating officer.

The restaurant will fully occupy a 4,030-square-foot building that will anchor The Shops at Canton Crossing's public "pocket park."

Chuck Nabit and Michael Klein, the owners of Waterfront Kitchen, have leased a kiosk building that will sit across from the park from Farmstead Grill. The kiosk will operate as Farmstead Shack.

The official opening for the Shops at Canton Crossing is Tuesday but a few retailers and restaurants have already opened for business, including Red Robin and Mission BBQ. A fast-casual version of Greektown's Samos restaurant is scheduled to open Oct. 14.
