If you show up early for the Thursday night's lighting of the Washington Monument, say at 5:30 p.m., you'll have couple of hours to spend on Mount Vernon before they actually light the thing. If choral music makes you hungry, don't worry.
This year's list of Monumental Occasion vendors includes Ethel & Ramone's, Sofi's Crepes, Zeke's Coffee, Golden West Cafe, Kooper's Chowhound Burger Wagon, James Joyce Irish Pub, Cazbar, the Laughing Crab, Pollock Johnny's and Luna del Sea.
Plus, some neighboring restaurants are running pre- and post-lighting specials. We're putting together a list of those. Watch for it here.
For the first time in years, The Wyndham Peabody Court is opening its enclosed rooftop ballroom space for the lighting. The space, many years ago home to the restaurants Peabody's and Citronelle, will be open for guests from 5 to 10 p.m. A bar will be open and light appetizers will be served. First come, first served until capacity.
Indigma is offering a $39.95 two-person fixed-price, three-course menu
Brewer's Art will feature its St. Festivus brown winter ale during its regular 4 to 7 p.m. happy hour.
Xs will be in attendance at the lighting with orange chicken and warm apple cider.
Minato well be having its regular happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m., with specials on sushi, drinks and appetizers.
