Crummy weather won't stop for Sir Richard Branson. The National Weather Service is forecasting "a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon" on Saturday, just when the first acts at Virgin Mobile FreeFest are taking the stage.
But, festival organizers are planning to go on "rain or shine," said spokeswoman Audrey Fix Schaefer.
Organizers won't be pulling a Silopanna because the weather isn't expected to be as severe as it was during Hurricane Irene.
On Saturday, there's a 30 percent chance of precipitation, with "new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch," according to the Weather Service. Higher amounts are possible in case of thunderstorms.
The day is forecast to be "partly sunny, with a high near 83."
As of Friday afternoon, there are no changes to the FreeeFest schedule, Schaefer said.
