Tortilleria Sinaloa, a Fells Point eatery specializing in homemade tortillas, will add a second location on Central Avenue in the Fallsway Spring Co. building later this summer.
The new location will have a larger menu than the Fells Point original, which serves a small selection of tamales, tortillas, chips and soups, in addition to seven varieties of fresh tacos. The new location will also have a full bar. The Eastern Avenue location, which opened in 2002, does not have a liquor license.
Sen said he hoped to be open on Central Avenue at the beginning of September.
"The Central Avenue corridor is becoming more attractive to restaurants and retail as Harbor East and Harbor Point continue to grow," said Henry Deford, who handled the lease for the 1,500-square-foot restaurant space. Nearby restaurants include Heavy Seas Alehouse and My Thai in the Holland Tack Factory and Nando's Peri-Peri and Cava Mezze in the Hyatt Place Hotel.
Deford said the Fallsway Spring Co. building also offered restaurant tenants surface parking, a prized commodity in the Harbor East area.
The previous occupant of the restaurant space at 415 S. Central Avenue was By Degrees Cafe, which closed in December. The building's only other tenant is Groove Commerce.
