Here's a round-up of our week at Midnight Sun:
•••• Brad Paisley led a country invasion at 1st Mariner Arena last night, and we have the photos to prove it.
•••• I interviewed Young Jeezy about his latest album being constantly pushed back and not making MTV's Hottest MCs List. Because it was b's cover story, I also wrote a short piece on his best songs and crafted a Spotify playlist. Jeezy kicks off his Hustlerz Ambition tour this weekend at Fillmore Silver Spring. In other rappers-performing-in-the-area news, Jim Jones plays Sonar on Sunday night, which I recommend checking out.
•••• One last thing about rap: I wrote a reaction to Mullyman and Los — two talented MCs from the area — not making XXL's "Freshman 10" list and why it doesn't matter.
•••• Fells Point bar Tyson's Tavern closed last year, and its replacement was finally named: Frederick's, another new bar focusing on craft cocktails. It's expected to open on April 1.
•••• Breathe easy — LMFAO will perform at Patriot Center in June. Read about it and more recently announced concert news here.
•••• In honor of Davy Jones, we dug into the archives and found this Baltimore Sun review of a Monkees show from 1967.
•••• Expect to see the Pratt Street Ale House double in size by early April.
•••• Odell's, the nightclub on North Ave., can add another chapter to its long, up-and-down history: Will Hanna, director of sports marketing firm HMG Sports and Entertainment, has plans of reopening the club. It has been closed since 1992. Read about Hanna's plan and more here.
