The new Manor Tavern -- first, change the fonts

Poster image for the Manor Tavern tomato festival

I spoke with Bill Irvin about his plans for the Manor Tavern shortly after he and his partner Patrick Russell took over the historic property back on July 9. Changes were coming, Irvin said, but they would be implemented slowly.

The conventional wisdom used to be that the first thing new ownership should do is to re-paint the bathrooms, and the same color. The 2011 equivalent of that is to change the fonts.

The poster for an Aug. 28 family day at the Manor Tavern -- the First Ever Tomato Festival -- has been done in the old yet new Artisanal Family Festival font, a big change from the horse-country caterer suite still seen on the website.

Or maybe the new look is just for special events. Keep watching -- fonts never lie.
