Baltimore restaurants will serve up their best barbecue and sides at The Urban BBQ, a fund-raising event to be held Sunday afternoon at Union Craft Brewing in Hampden.
Among the restaurants participating in the family-friendly event are 13.5% Wine Bar, Aldo's, Apropos's, Dooby's, Fleet Street Kitchen, The Food Market, Four Seasons Baltimore and Wit & Wisdom Tavern. Other participants include Whole Foods Harbor East and The Charmery, which will be serving ice cream.
Proceeds from this first-time event will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Maryland Chapter. Most of the restaurants coming to Sunday's event also participate in The Passion For Food & Wine, an annual chef-driven culinary event benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
"We wanted to take the enthusiasm the chefs brought to The Passion For Food event and create a new, more casual, event that could reach a different audience" said Dave Seel, director of marketing and public relations for the Bagby Restaurant Group, one of the organizers of The Urban BBQ.
The Urban BBQ is hosted by Union Craft Brewing, which has become a reliable picnicking destination for beer lovers and their families, who come for the brewery's Saturday afternoon open Tap Room hours.
The Urban BBQ is noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Union Craft Brewing, 1700 Union Ave. Tickets are $45 ($10 for children ages 4-11) and include all food, a raffle ticket and one Union Craft beer.
