Sagamore Spirit, the whiskey company from Under Armour founder Kevin Plank, will debut this month its second product, Cask Strength Rye Whiskey, the company announced this week.
The cask-strength product is a variation of Sagamore Spirit's Straight Rye Whiskey. The new product is cut with less water than the original, resulting in a higher alcohol content.
The original whiskey is 83 proof, while the Cask Strength will be closer to 112. (Each bottle will have a unique proof, the company said, because each barrel ages to a slightly different proof.)
As a company, Sagamore Spirit is based in Baltimore, but both of its rye whiskeys are distilled in Indiana and then bottled and labeled in Port Covington. Full production will move to Baltimore once the company's 22,000-square-foot distillery opens to the public in the spring. Sagamore Spirit broke ground on the building in late October.
A 750-milliliter bottle of the Cask Strength Rye Whiskey will cost $73.99, and will be sold in Maryland, Washington, Kentucky, New York and New Jersey.
Sagamore's Straight Rye Whiskey, which costs $40 per bottle, debuted in May.
