With new still, Sagamore Spirit brings production one step closer to Baltimore

Sagamore Spirit's rye whiskey is not currently produced in Baltimore, but Kevin Plank's new alcohol company took a major step toward changing that Thursday when Sagamore's 40-foot still was installed at the Port Covington site. Watch the video of the presentation above.

Made in the U.S., the still weighs 3,700 pounds and consists of copper, steel and stainless steel. It will allow Sagamore to begin producing its whiskey here rather than its current location, Indiana.

A Sagamore Spirit spokeswoman said the company hopes use of the still will begin before the end of the year.

Sagamore broke ground on its five-acre distillery in October. Its debut product, Sagamore Spirit Straight Rye Whiskey, hit shelves in May.
