Ruth's Chris Steak House on Water Street in downtown Baltimore will close its doors for good after dinner service ends Thursday night.
Owner Steve de Castro decided to close the restaurant at 600 Water St., his first Ruth's Chris location, after 24 years in business. De Castro also operates restaurants in Annapolis, Pikesville and at Pier V, where his company will focus its efforts. De Castro recently opened his 10th Ruth's Chris location, in Odenton.
Employees at the 600 Water St. restaurant will be absorbed by de Castro's other restaurants.
"As we continue to grow as an organization we have clearly realized that our most important area of focus is the service we provide to our guests and with the changing marketplace dynamics, and shifting emphasis on the Baltimore Harbor and East Harbor area it was necessary to make this change," de Castro said in a statement. He was not immediately available to comment further.
