Ramen alert: Genji adds noodle dishes to its Whole Food offerings

Genji introduces ramen

Ramen alert. Genji, the sushi provider to Whole Foods Market, has introduced a line of ramen noodle soups to its offerings. The noodle bowls will be freshly prepared daily in house, according to company information.

The Genji ramen is  is being promoted as being a healthy alternative to the freeze-dried stuff, which I love, and to the slow-simmered restaurant version, which is still in short supply in Baltimore. Made with a chile and sesame-miso base, the Genji ramen are sold in ready-to-heat grab-and-go bowl. Customers add hot water and zap it for 60-90 seconds.

Genji's noodle soups follow the savory "tan-tan men" style, with a chili and sesame-miso base, and a variety of fresh toppings. Genji's Ramen Noodle Soup will debut in three varieties -shrimp and scallop, calamari and vegetable.

Established in 1997, Genji Sushi bars are located within 138 Whole Foods Market locations in 18 states and the District of Columbia.
