R. House food hall to incorporate pop-up space for rotating chefs

R. House, a food hall, is opening at 29th Street and Remington Street. (Barbara Haddock Taylor / Baltimore Sun)

Designed as a launchpad for new food concepts, R. House will soon provide pop-up space for chefs to test out new concepts alongside the 10 permanent vendors in the food hall.

R. House developers are building designated kitchen space for rotating chefs — up-and-comers and veterans alike — to try new concepts. The space will be fully equipped with a gas range, oven, fryers, a flattop, cold storage, ventilation and prep tables.

The pop-up kitchen will be housed with other concepts including BRD (fried chicken), BeBim (Korean barbecue), ARBA (Mediterranean), Stall 11 (vegan and vegetarian) and Ground & Griddled (breakfast). The remaining five stalls have not yet been announced.

Chefs interested in bringing their pop-ups to the food hall can propose concepts through the R. House website. The pop-ups will be held anywhere from one week to two months.

The $12 million R. House is being developed by Seawall Development Co. Located in a former Anderson Automotive showroom, the food hall will include 350 seats and a bar. The building will also house office space and a fitness studio.
