Filled with news headlines and images of the city after Freddie Gray's death, Prince's music video for his recent song "Baltimore" was released online on Tuesday afternoon. Watch it above.
Eryn Allen Kane, the Chicago-based singer featured on the track, uploaded the clip to YouTube and premiered it on social media. Directed by Washington D.C.'s Ralston Smith, the video shows photos of Gray, Prince's "Rally 4 Peace" concert at Royal Farms Arena and protesters walking through Baltimore streets.
The clip ends with a quote from Prince that echoes comments he made at his Baltimore concert: "The system is broken. It's going to take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life ..." The video also features images of notable people at the "Rally 4 Peace" show, including State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby and musicians Estelle, Miguel and Questlove.
The release of "Baltimore" comes days after local students put out their own music video — with help from notable Baltimore musicians — about the city and Gray's death. Read more about "Believe in Baltimore" here.
