Paul McCartney named Firefly Music Festival headliner

Paul McCartney, shown here earlier this month in New York, will headline this year's Firefly Music Festival.

When the Firefly Music Festival released its 2015 lineup earlier this month, the first name was mysteriously blurred out, likely in an attempt to drum up some needed intrigue. Today the final headliner's name was released: Paul McCartney.

The Dover, Del., festival takes place June 18-21. McCartney joins a lineup that includes Kings of Leon, The Killers, Morrissey, Snoop Dogg, Foster the People, Zedd and more. The festival marks McCartney's first-ever performance in Delaware, according to Lauren King of festival production company Red Frog Events.

VIP passes go on sale Friday and general admission tickets go on sale Monday at fireflyfestival.com.

While McCartney has steadily released new music his entire career (his most recent album was 2013's "New"), the former Beatle is having something of a pop-culture resurgence this year thanks to high-profile collaborations with Kanye West ("Only One") and Rihanna ("FourFiveSeconds").
