Are you ready for Old Bay Hot?
One of 21 new products being introduced this spring by the Sparks-based flavor giant McCormick & Co.
In other Old Bay news, Flying Dog Brewery is bringing its Dead Rise Old Bay Summer Ale back - the beer will have its second-season premiere Friday at Camden Yards, for the Orioles' home opener against the Blue Jays.
Introduced last spring, Dead Rise was a crazy success for the Frederick-based brewery, who collaborated on the spicy ale with McCormick "flavor experts."
As for Old Bay Hot, it's the same beloved blend of salt and spices as the original Old Bay but with more cayenne pepper. For now, Old Bay Hot will be available only in a 2.5-ounce tin.
This is not the first time McCormick has put a spin on Old Bay. The company also sells a seafood rub and a "steamers" seasoning under the Old Bay label as well as garlic-and-herb, lemon-and-herb and blackened seasoning variations on the original mix.
But Old Bay Hot was stirring up some excitement on social media on Friday, and we have to admit, we've got big plans for it involving egg salad.
We went looking for Old Bay Hot at the Super Giant on 41st Street, but it wasn't on the shelves yet.
If you see one of little guys, let us know.
