In and around the track, here's what hotels and restaurants are offering for race fans. All of them are open to the public.
The Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards is the official hotel sponsor of the Grand Prix of Baltimore Presented by SRT, as well as the official hotel sponsor of Team Baltimore Racing. They will be offering a series of promotions and events for the public all weekend long.
On Friday, Aug. 31, the hotel will host a Team Baltimore Racing Happy Hour, open to the public, featuring a live performance by the Crawdaddies. There is no cover charge. The Yard Bar & Grille, the hotel's restaurant and lounge, will feature daily food and beverage specials, Friday through Sunday. The new Goetze Caramel Brownie Sundae topped with Haagen-Dazs ice cream, homemade fudge and freshly whipped cream will sell for $6, with proceeds donated to the University of Maryland Pediatrics Angel Fund
The Renaissance Harborplace Hotel, located "a mere 10 steps" from the track, is hosting a Patron Tequila and Svedka Vodka party on its patio on Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, the hotel will offer breakfast sandwiches and Bloody Marys until 10:30 a.m. and pit beef sandwiches and hot dogs until midnight. Race fans headed to the track can also get some grab-and-go items here.
Germano's in Little Italy has adopted Team Pelfrey. Pilots Jack Hawksworth, Petri Suvanto and Gustavo Menenzes will sign autographs and share stories about the race on Friday, Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m. Drivers from Team Pelfrey will be at Germano's throughout Baltimore Race Week.
Race fans can find their way to the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court's second annual Grand Prix Pig Roast. You don't have to buy a ticket to the race but there is a $10 entry fee to the event, which is being held in the VIP viewing area in the hotel's courtyard. The family-friendly pig roast will go from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with a DJ 2-6 p.m. each day.
