Alt-country trio The Lone Bellow and the worldbeat-influenced indie-pop act Rubblebucket — two bands from Brooklyn, N.Y. — will play WTMD's next First Thursdays concert on June 4, according to Scott Mullins, the station's program director. The Districts, a Pennsylvania-based indie-rock quartet signed to Fat Possum, will also perform.
The tentative schedule from Mullins:
The Districts — 6:30 p.m.
Rubblebucket — 7:30 p.m.
The Lone Bellow — 8:30 p.m.
The year's opening First Thursdays concert took place last night at Canton Waterfront Park on Boston Street. Kopecky, Marah and Strand of Oaks performed to a large crowd by the water.
In 2005, WTMD took over the free concert series from Baltimore City Paper. Through 2013, the Towson University station held the concerts at West Mount Vernon Park in Mount Vernon, but moved it to Canton last year due to scheduled repairs to the Washington Monument.
This isn't The Lone Bellow's first First Thursday — the act played it in May 2013.
