Chef David Garcia Reyes has taken over the kitchen at Johnny's and joined the ownership team of the Roland Park restaurant.
Reyes spent the last six years as chef de cuisine at Charleston and has been with the Foreman Wolf Restaurant Group, which owns both restaurants, for a decade.
Tony Foreman, a partner in the group, said Reyes is a detail-oriented chef who is "a perfectionist to the highest degree."
He hopes Reyes' attention to detail and emphasis on service become evident throughout Johnny's.
"People have enjoyed this restaurant," Foreman said. "I just want them to enjoy it more."
Reyes is the first employee Foreman Wolf has brought on as a partner in any of its properties. Foreman said the group, which looks to promote from within, would consider doing it again if the circumstances were right.
Before starting as a line cook at Charleston in 2006, Reyes worked at the Baltimore Country Club and held apprenticeships in Italy, France and New York.
In the coming weeks, diners at Johnny's will notice the menu shifting to reflect Reyes' interpretation of American cuisine.
"It's a melting pot," Reyes said.
