J.A. Murphy's closed temporarily

(Erik Maza)

J.A. Murphy's in Fells Point has been closed temporarily. It's not clear when the bar will re-open.

A sign posted on the bar's window reads, "Happiness will return ASAP."

It's also not clear when the bar closed or why. The owners, Keith Murphy and Joel Gallant, have not returned calls for comment for the past week.

And for the past week, the bar's phone has gone directly to voicemail.

The bar seems to have been closed since at least July 21, that's when a fan asked on the bar's Facebook wall if the bar had indeed closed. The picture above was taken Monday.

J.A. Murphy's opened in January 2009, and seemed to have enough fans to stick around for a while. Just last year, it celebrated a one-year anniversary.

Ironically, another sign on the bar's window reads, "Handing out happinnes: 892 days and counting."
