A stall specializing in fried chicken and wings is joining the lineup at the R. House food emporium in Remington.
BRD (which is pronounced "bird" and stands for "baked, roasted and deep-fried") will be among a dozen vendors at the food hall when the space opens this fall.
The stall will focus on artisan chicken wings and fried chicken sandwiches, offered alongside slaws, salads and vegetables. The locally sourced sandwiches and wings will be served with a variety of toppings and sauces such as Italian chicken Parmesan and Alabama white sauce.
BRD is the first food venture for owner Alex Janian, who has a background in investment banking. The concept was inspired by his family's trips to Florence, Italy, where the scents of rotisserie chicken wafted through the streets, he said in a news release.
He'll join veteran Baltimore chefs and restaurateurs who are opening stands at R. House, such as David Sherman (of Cafe Cito), Melanie Molinaro (Encantada), Farid Salloum (Baba's Mediterranean Kitchen), and sisters Heather Chung and Unmi Kim (Brown Rice). BRD will round out R. House's offerings, which already include breakfast and coffee, vegetarian and vegan eats, Mediterranean food and Korean barbecue.
Located at the corner of Remington Avenue and 29th Street, R. House is a $12 million project being developed by Seawall Development Co. that includes the first-floor food hall, as well as office space and a fitness studio above.
