Every day is national Somethingorother Day, but this one holds a special place in our hearts. Saturday, Feb. 7, is national Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast day, which could only be made better if it ran concurrently with national Wear PJs Everywhere No Matter What day.
Area ice cream people are getting in on this, of course.
The Prigel Family Creamery in Glen Arm says on its website that you can stop in for a waffle with a scoop of ice cream drizzled with maple syrup and topped with whipped cream and a cherry. There will be free refills on coffee.
The Charmery in Hampden tells us it will open at 10 a.m. and serve up these flavors of ice cream: Spro Coffee, English Breakfast Tea, Healthy Breakfast (Grapefruit ice cream), Rum Raisin Bran, Honey Golden Grahams, and three Saturday-morning-cartoon inspired flavors.
Cold pizza will also be available, which owner David Alima explains this way: "We used Bella Roma pizza and infused our dairy with it we then added a sauce made of tomatoes, brown sugar and butter. I finished it off with a hint of nutritional yeast for that sharp cheese bite. The end result is actually really strange and delicious."
They'll also be serving made-to-order Belgian waffles and Spro coffee -- and (it's like they were reading our minds) if you show up in pajamas you could win free prizes.
