Bluegrass' Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen clean up at Wammie Awards

A strong start to 2015 continued this month for Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen, the Virginia-based bluegrass band featuring Baltimore bluegrass veteran Mike Munford.

After their latest effort "Cold Spell" was nominated at February's Grammys for Best Bluegrass Album, the quartet won eight awards from the Washington Area Music Association on Sunday. Also known as the Wammies, the event honors musicians, producers and more from D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

The band, which was nominated for nine total Wammies, won Artist of the Year and Bluegrass Duo/Group of the year. "Cold Spell" won Album of the Year and Bluegrass Recording of the Year. (The track also won Song of the Year.) Finally, frontman Solivan won Musician of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Bluegrass Vocalist of the Year.
