This past weekend was packed with shows: J. Roddy Walston, the Get 'Em Mamis, Dashboard Confessional. Did anyone go see Erykah Badu at Rams Head? Our reviewer did not enjoy the show. That kind of weekend is gonna be a rarity this month. During the holidays, concerts and nightlife events, like everyone else, mostly take a break. That's especially true this week, with the biggest show a Tori Amos performance in Washington D.C. Elsewhere: Yelle, a college night at Baltimore Soundstage, Prince Rama, Yelle, Jane Birkin, Ultra Nate, and the Mid-Atlantic Holiday Beer Festival.
On Monday, Tori Amos performs at DAR Constitution Hall at 8 p.m. Amos is promoting new album "Night of Hunters." Tickets start at $57.65.
On Tuesday, Brooklyn Duo Prince Rama performs at the Floristree. Most of the band's releases can be previewed at its Soundcloud page. Also performing: Co La, Weyes Blood. Doors at 9 p.m. Admission price not listed.
On Wednesday, the hyperkinetic French band Yelle is at Sonar. They're out promoting their new bubblegum album "Safari Disco Club." Show starts at 8 p.m. $15. Also: The Baltimore episode of "Drinking Made Easy" airs at 8 p.m on HDNet.
On Thursday, Beady Eye, composed of everyone in Oasis who is not Noel Gallagher, performs at the 9:30 Club in Washington. They're promoting a new album, "Different Gear, Still Speeding." Doors at 7 p.m. $40. Also: Baltimore Soundstage throws a college night, "Naughty or Nice." Doors at 8 p.m. $12 after 10 p.m. with a college I.D.
On Friday, the metal band Serial Attraction and Dundalk alternative band Neverthought perform at Rams Head Live. Doors at 7 p.m. $12. Also: the coolest French chanteuse, Jane Birkin, is at the 9:30 Club. 6 p.m. $35.
On Saturday, Pratt Street Ale House and Brewer's Art are co-hosting a Mid-Atlantic Holiday Beer Festival at the Ale House. Evolution, Oliver Ales, Brewer's, Flying Dog, among others, will have samples. Doors at 1 p.m. $40. Also: Ultra Nate is joined by the great Lisa Moody at the Paradox for the party "A Tribe Called House." Doors at 11 p.m. $10 before midnight.
