A Dangerously Delicious Pies shop will take over the Breathe Bookstore and Cafe location in Hampden.
"We will be closing our Hampden location on Dec. 31," the message said. "And Dangerously Delicious Pies will open in early January in this space. The owners, Mary and John Wortman, have a thriving Dangerously Delicious in Canton .... So this will be their second location."
Back in August, when Weis-Bohlen announced her intention to close Breathe, saying she wanted to focus on her cooking classes and book business, she put the call out for a cafe operator to take over her lease.
"We can't wait," said John Wortman, who said he hoped to have the Hampden shop open by Feb. 1. The Wortmans purchased the Canton business three years ago, John Wortman said, and Dangerously Delicious Pies founder Rodney Henry has no ownership stake in either the Canton shop or the one coming in Hampden.
This will actually be a return to Hampden for the Dangerously Delicious Pies brand. A Dangerously Delicious "savory house" opened in 2008 in the Chestnut Street building that's currently home to Grano Emporio. It lasted less than a year.
