Chipotle will include all of its Baltimore-area locations in its East Coast test-market for Sofritas, the company's new vegan option.
The test starts on Oct. 21.
Chipotle began testing Sofritas, which it describes as "a shredded tofu braised with chipotle chilies, roasted poblano peppers and a blend of aromatic spices," back in January at seven San Francisco Bay area locations, and expanded the try-out to all its restaurants in California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Washington Sate , and Vancouver, Canada.
But the vegan dish is now making its way to the East Coast, where Chipotle is trying it out in Baltimore, Richmond, Va., Washington and Philadelphia.
Sofritas will be available as an option in burritos, tacos, burrito bowls, and salads and can be combined with other menu items like beans, rice, salsas and guacamole, according to press information from the Denver-based chain.
