Chef Cindy Wolf will have to keep waiting for a James Beard Award after Chef Aaron Silverman of Rose's Luxury in Washington, D.C., took home this year's award for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic.

Wolf was among six finalists for the award, for which she has been nominated five times.

The 2016 James Beard Award winners were announced from the awards gala at the Lyric Opera of Chicago Monday night.

Wolf's signature restaurant, Charleston, made this year's long list of contenders for a James Beard Award for Outstanding Wine Program. The restaurant did not make the final round of nominees.

Wolf and Charleston were the only Maryland chefs or restaurants to make this year's list of semifinalists. Wolf was also named a finalist in 2006, 2008, 2014 and 2015.

Other finalists in this year's Best Chef Mid-Atlantic category included Peter Chang of Arlington, Va., and Eli Kulp, Rich Landau and Greg Vernick of Philadelphia. They were narrowed down from 20 semifinalists.

Baltimore brought home its first James Beard Awards last year when Chef Spike Gjerde of Woodberry Kitchen won for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic.
