The space had to pass a follow-up inspection before reopening Wednesday morning. A manager at Berger's Bakery reached by phone confirmed the bakery was open for business again.

"The Bakery met all Baltimore City Health Department requirements during its inspection by the Health Department today," Lexington Market said in a statement. "The Bakery apologizes for any inconvenience to its customers during the one-day closure and looks forward to continuing to serve its iconic baked goods to visitors and residents of Baltimore."

The bakery sells Baltimore's iconic Berger Cookies, which are baked at DeBaufre Bakeries in South Baltimore, as well as cakes and other desserts. DeBaufre Bakeries has no affiliation with the Lexington Market stand.

Berger's Bakery is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
