Beginning Oct. 10, the merchants at Belvedere Square will begin staying open until 10 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The later hours coincide with the re-opening of the Senator Theatre, the long shuttered movie house located just across York Road.
Atwater's, which recently acquired a license to sell beer and wine, will be among the merchants staying open later. The cafe won't be turning into a mega-bar. Its offerings will consist of four draft beers and four draft wines, which will change with the seasons, according to owner Ned Atwater.
Atwater's new beer and wine program won't be up and running on Oct. 10, Atwater said, because he was still firming up arrangements with vendors.
"We're so excited about everything that's happening over there [at the Senator]," said Stacy Pack of Belvedere Square. "We want to make sure that people have a place to go before and after a movie."
The change in hours comes amid other upgrades and improvements at Belvedere Square, including new awnings and signage, and the imminent opening of Shoo-Fly, a new restaurant from Amy and Spike Gjerde set to open in the anchor space formerly occupied by Crush.
