The owners of Barrett's Grill at the Hunt Valley Towne Centre will open a restaurant in the Glyndon location that was Mia Carolina until earlier this year.

The new restaurant will be called Glyndon Grill, according to Michael Sipes, who co-owns both Barrett's Grill and the new restaurant with John Barrett. Glyndon Grill will operate with a different menu and chef than Barrett's but will also focus on in-house, made-from-scratch preparations, said Sipes, who added that Glyndon Grill will also likely be more casual than Barrett's Grill, which he and Barrett have owned since 2011.

Sipes said he thinks residents of Glyndon and the surrounding communities will welcome another dining option. "We're hoping to reach that customer that's looking for something a little nicer without mortgaging their home," Sipes said. "We've had a lot of folks tell us they wish they had a place to go."

Located in he Glyndon Square Shopping Center on Butler Road, the restaurant property is being completely renovated, back and front, including an enlarged bar, carved partly out of a space that Mia Carolina used for retail sales, according to Sipes.

The restaurant, which will seat approximately 120 people, is targeted for a mid-September opening, Sipes said.
