On Wednesday, Abdu Ali premiered his new video for "Did Dat" from "MONGO" on The Fader's website.

What's the song of the summer?

The argument could be made for Drake's pop-rap-UK funky-hybrid anthem, "One Dance," or maybe it's the Rihanna-Calvin Harris duet, "This is What You Came For." Justin Timberlake's jingle "Can't Stop the Feeling" doesn't seem to be going away either.

Or maybe, this year, there is no song of the summer, as some have suggested.

If that's the case, let's consider a new Baltimore club track from Abdu Ali. Produced by Mighty Mark, "Did Dat" is four minutes of clear-eyed affirmation, self-empowerment and blunt swag.

Since emerging in 2012 with his debut mixtape "Invictos," Abdu Ali has become a central figure in Baltimore's independent music scene. At 25, the Charles Village resident is also one of the youngest.

"I did dat! I killed dat! Three shots in the air 'cuz I killed dat!" Abdu Ali rap-chants.

Taken from Abdu Ali's full-length debut (April's "MONGO"), the song celebrates achievements, but also works as a motivational speech set to Mighty Mark's stomping production.

Abdu Ali is gearing up for an upcoming tour that will take him (and Baltimore singer/songwriter/rapper Joy Postell on select dates) across the country through October. He plays the second Fields Festival on Aug. 21 at Darlington's Camp Ramblewood with other Baltimore artists like Future Islands, Lower Dens, TT the Artist and many more. Abdu Ali and Postell will perform at the Crown on Sept. 22, as well. (Full dates here.)
