Abacrombie to be auctioned on Sept. 28

A "partnership dissolution auction" of the Abacrombie Bed & Breakfast will be held on the premises of the Mid-Town Belvedere Inn on Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.

Here's the auction listing with Alex Cooper Real Estate. The restaurant and bar on the property is described in the listing as "not operating -- turn key condition."

The restaurant was last open for business sometime around April 15. But it never officially closed.

The restaurant space has flourished and been laid bare repeatedly over the past three decades under myriad owners and operators. It operated previously under the name Society Hill. Jerry Pellegrino, who operates Corks in Federal Hill, was associated with its most recent operators, which reopened the restaurant in 2007 with Jesse Sandlin as executive chef.

Todd Powell, managing director of Savvy Hospitality Grovp, the property's management company and   a holder of minority equity in the property, said that the inn is still operating. The auction, Powell said, is designed to attract enough new equity to the property to allow a smooth exit for the majority owner, Hanif Vahora.
