OpenTable is out with its latest list of top 100 brunch restaurants in America, and Maryland made a strong showing.
With nine restaurants on the list, Maryland had the third most in the top 100, behind New York (20 restaurants) and California (16). Illinois boasted six on the list, and Pennsylvania and D.C. had five each. The restaurants were chosen based on reviews by users of the online dining site.
Baltimore alone has five restaurants named in the top 100: City Cafe, the Food Market, Gertrude's, Rusty Scupper and Woodberry Kitchen. In Annapolis, Iron Rooster made the cut. And in Montgomery County, Clyde's of Chevy Chase, Founding Farmers in Potomac and Tower Oaks Lodge in Rockville were recognized.
Only 26 states had restaurants on the list, although the restaurants were considered from every state and D.C.
The list was compiled based on more than 5 million reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners between April 1, 2015, and March 31 of this year. Those reviews included more than 20,000 restaurants across the country.
