Alexander's Tavern, founded by Charlie Gjerde, brother to Spike Gjerde of Woodberry Kitchen fame, and Carrie Podles, suits Fells Point just fine. It has the requisite noisy bar for adults, but it has an added feature — a separate, congenial dining room where families can feel comfortable whether they're tourists or locals.
The kids' activity menu features a range of foods (all $6), from burgers and chicken bites to a cheese quesadilla and mac and cheese for lunch and dinner. There's pancakes, French toast and scrambled eggs for Saturday and Sunday breakfast.
The restaurant also has a gluten-free menu if needed, but Alexander's is probably best known for its dressed-up tater tots ($9 to $12.50). Try the Maryland one with crab dip, Jack cheese, lump crab and Old Bay or the Buffalo chicken with crispy chicken, a four-cheese blend and blue cheese dressing. All ages will be pleased.
