QUESTION: Maryland men’s basketball coach Lefty Driesell earned the NCAA Award of Valor in 1974 for what reason?

ANSWER: Driesell rescued some 10 children from a burning building in Bethany Beach, Del., on July 12, 1973. Driesell and two other men had been fishing nearby when they saw the flames, broke down a door and evacuated the children.
