Couple slammed after calling 911 for their cat

Goodness knows if one of our pets is having a medical emergency, we'd want to do anything to make sure whe could get help -- and as fast as humanly possible. But a couple in Britain is drawing fire for calling the UK's version of 911 for their cat.

Making matters worse, they might have told a bit of a fib to get the ambulance to their house.

According to this report in the Telegraph, the couple called 999 and told the operator they needed the service to ''revive their five year-old."

An ambulance sped to the scene only to find a couple in tears, clutching a dying kitty. The cat later died anyway.

The paramedics were outraged. One who declined to be named said he was "gobsmacked" by the situation. ''I've gone to some silly calls but nothing like this," the medic told the paper. "I can't understand why they didn't try to call a vet. Some people think 999 covers everything."
