BIRTHDAY GUY: Actor Joel Gretsch was born in St. Cloud, Minn., today in 1963. Gretsch starred in the TV series "V" and "The 4400," and played Owen Crawford in the miniseries "Taken." His film work includes roles in "National Treasure: Book of Secrets," "Minority Report" and "The Legend of Bagger Vance." Gretsch is the son-in-law of William Shatner.
ARIES (March 21-April 19): Start feeling your oats. You can kick up your heels; try early morning exercise to start the day. A knack for using common sense and practical solutions can cut through the fog of political expediency.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You have too much time on your hands. Your penchant for relaxation and indulgence could leave you at the starting gate when the boss hands out the blue ribbons, so pay attention to deadlines and details.
GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Put another nickel in the nickelodeon. Nothing is free, they say, so it is a good idea to ante up when called upon to donate your fair share. Keep confidential information under wraps - even if provoked.
CANCER (June 21-July 22): Deal with the minutes and the hours will take care of themselves. Spending more time window shopping at the mall won't get the rug vacuumed or the bills paid. Use spare time wisely.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): He who pays the piper calls the tune. You might need to stick up for your rights in a situation, but don't get carried away. It is, after all, the holiday season and some generosity and tolerance is needed.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Wanting and needing could be connected by an invisible thread. It might be the right time to analyze your needs. With careful choices, you can avoid going overboard with frivolous or wasteful purchases.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Miss a kiss under the mistletoe. A chance meeting could kick-start a new romantic attachment, but the outcome could be unpredictable. Avoid acting on whims and stick to the tried and true for success.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Take complaints with a grain of salt. Play to win in the business world, but leave decisions about finances for another day. It won't pay to get cross about others who are working at cross-purposes.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Jingle your own bells. You might be on top of the heap where work is concerned but can't afford to take the chance on shortcuts. Be a social butterfly and flit from one group to another.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Sometimes choice is merely a delusion. You must pay your bills and make obligatory social appearances just like everyone else. Don't let suspicious or aggravating individuals get under your skin.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): The person who falls at your feet may only be assessing the value of your shoes. This might be a day when whatever can go wrong, does. Purchases made now might not please the recipient.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Steer a straight path. Sensitive handling of confidential data and minor upsets can earn you some kudos. Don't ignore any signals from a significant other that hint of a demand for more freedom or attention.
IF DECEMBER 20 IS YOUR BIRTHDAY: When you're hot, you're hot - and when you're not, you're not. Keep a low profile between now and late January when you are likely to make poorly thought out business decisions or aggravate key people by insisting upon having your own way. In late March and early April, however, you are filled with entrepreneurial spirit and possess all the right stuff to make a big splash with a career or business idea. Get your vacation out of the way before mid-June, when you can expect to have extra obligations or a larger workload than usual.
