A custom-built Crownsville home that includes a wine cellar and deeded boat slip is on the market for $895,000.
The cedar-sided home at 558 Sawmill Lane in the Maynadier community of Anne Arundel County offers the opportunity to live on 2.1 acres in a private setting just a short walk to the community marina and boat slip. From there, it's minutes by boat to the scenic Severn River.
"It's a very private lot," said Carol Snyder, who heads the Carol Snyder Group in Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, noting that woods shield it from neighboring homes, yet the location is convenient to shopping and Interstate 97.
Built in 1987, the open-plan Cape Cod style house offers 3,187 square feet of above-ground living space plus another 637 square feet in the finished basement. The home has large windows that flood it with light, and hardwood floors cover much of the main level.
Updates include a kitchen with granite counters, wood cabinetry, stainless-steel appliances, an island and a breakfast bar. The adjacent sunny breakfast room and deck provide views of the woods and overlook an in-ground pool.
"The ceiling is mostly glass and the walls are mostly glass," Snyder said.
The main floor also includes a living room, family room with a brick fireplace and wood-stove insert, a separate dining room.
The home has four carpeted bedrooms and four full bathrooms, plus a powder room on the main floor.
The master bedroom suite, which includes a bathroom with two sinks in a granite-topped vanity, opens onto a screened-in sleeping porch. There are two other bedrooms on the floor, one of which features a loft.
The fourth bedroom is part of a separate suite over the garage. It has a full bathroom and is roughed in for a kitchenette. A stairway from the main level leads directly to it, making it suitable for an au pair, in-laws or guests.
The updated basement space features a wood stove, stone wall and wet bar. It also has a media room, a rustic wine cellar in brick, stone and wood with a tile floor, and a full bathroom. The home includes a two-car garage.
The custom-designed house, Snyder said, "is not cookie-cutter."
