Cunningham Falls State Park closed for Super Storm Sandy restoration

A portion of Cunningham Falls State Park will be closed to the public for more than a month for cleanup following damage left by Super Storm Sandy.

From Wednesday until March 1, dead or dying trees will be removed from the Manor area of the park, located in Thurmont, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The project is intended to encourage regeneration, improve biodiversity and ensure that the area is safe for visitors.

The William Houck section of the park will not be impacted by the operation, and will remain open during this time period.
