Since 2010, patrons have flocked to Canton’s Bare on the Square waxing center for one thing: a Brazilian wax that’s done in half the time of those at most salons.
The $65, 10-minute Bare Down There Brazilian wax is a claim to fame for co-owners Melissa Jacobson and Stephanie Casey. Now they’re expanding their business into all-natural skin care with a second location, Bare Skinlabs in Lutherville’s Green Spring Station.
The new space, which opened at the end of January, is small but efficient. Guests won’t find a lounge or a sauna like some local spas offer, but Jacobson says she and Casey cater to the person on the go.
“Our clients tend to get in -- they get out,” she says. “They mean business.”
Three private rooms, each decorated in cream, metallic gray and muted purple, are available for facials and body treatments. Jacobson, Casey and their team of seven aestheticians use combinations of organic herbs, foods and essential oils custom-blended for each client.
Self-taught through research into natural ingredients, Jacobson and Casey emphasize that there isn’t a “one size fits all” solution when it comes to their clients’ skin.
“We analyze their skin, and we basically create a formula for them,” says Casey, who says she first became interested in natural living while working at Whole Foods years ago.
“We’re a little intuitive about it,” adds Jacobson. “How does somebody in some manufacturing plant know what your skin needs?”
Bare Skinlabs also offers permanent makeup, sunless tanning and waxing services, including the Bare Down There.
