Delta flight to Hartford, Conn. diverted to BWI

A Delta flight from Orlando, Fla., to Hartford, Conn., made an emergency landing in Baltimore Sunday night due to mechanical trouble, according to a spokesman for the airline.

While Delta flight 1478 was in the air, the pilot saw a warning light indicating an inconsistent pitch, or angle of flight, response on the aircraft, and chose to divert to BWI Marshall Airport, said Delta spokesman Anthony Black.

The flight landed at about 9:40 p.m., according to an airport spokesman.

There were 142 passengers and five crew members on board, Black said. Passengers boarded a replacement aircraft and arrived about three hours late, he said.
