Wedded: Emily Kohler and Robert Collins III

Wedding date: May 25, 2013

Her story: Emily Kohler, 30, grew up in Camp Hill, Pa., and lives in Parkville. She is a product representative for a flooring distributor. Her father, Bradley Kohler, is a program manager, and her mother, Ruth Ann Kohler, is a nurse.


His story: Robert "Rob" Collins III, 31, was born in Washington and raised in Ellicott City. He is a food salesman for Saval Foodservice. His father, Robert "Bob" Collins Jr., is a medical consultant, and his mother, Monica Collins, is a nurse.

Their story: Emily and Rob met at Ryleigh's Oyster in Federal Hill in May 2010 after an Orioles game and began dating shortly thereafter.


The proposal: Rob proposed on Christmas Eve in 2011 with a 1-carat round-cut diamond engagement ring.

"A couple of months before, we'd rescued a dog and decided that would be our Christmas gift to each other," says Rob. "I suggested we exchange gifts on Christmas Eve and she said, 'I thought we weren't getting presents.' So I told her I got her something really small and I hope she likes it."

The venue: About 170 guests attended the ceremony at St. Ignatius Church in Mount Vernon.

"It's Rob's family's church, and I got confirmed at Easter right before we got married, so we had a really good connection with the church and loved it there," says Emily.

Her dress: Emily wore an ivory A-line strapless raw silk gown with a sweetheart neckline and lace bodice from the Betsy Robinson Bridal Collection in Pikesville.

Bridesmaids' dresses: The bridesmaids wore navy blue silk chiffon strapless dresses with sweetheart necklines from J. Crew.

Men's apparel: Rob and his groomsmen wore charcoal gray tuxedos from Men's Wearhouse.

Reception: The reception took place at the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court hotel in the Inner Harbor.


"We really liked the architecture and the style at the Royal Sonesta," says Emily. "It didn't feel like a hotel when you went there."

Entertainment: A string quartet made up of students from the Peabody Institute played during the cocktail hour, while DJ Carl with Classic Disc Jockeys of Bel Air entertained throughout the reception.

Sweet tooth: The couple selected a traditional tiered wedding cake from Graul's Market in Baltimore with red velvet, lemon and almond poundcake with buttercream frosting. There was also a candy bar full of miniature Reese's peanut butter cups, jelly beans and peanut M&Ms.

Favors: Emily and Rob gave their guests honey with the quote "love is sweet" from Apex Bee Co. in Baltimore.

"We're really happy," says Rob. "Everything was great, and all of our vendors were amazing."
