Her story: Cherise Adkins, 33, was born in San Jose, Calif. She works as a publicist at Lyons Public Relations in Kensington. Her mother, Beverly Adkins, lives in Las Vegas, and her father, Walter Adkins, lives in San Jose.
His story: Richard Washington III, 35, was born in Lanham. He is an executive producer at WBAL-TV in Baltimore. His parents, Ann and Richard Washington Jr., live in St. Stephens Church, Va.
Their story: The two met in July 2010 at work. He was a producer and she was a writer-producer at WTTG-TV in Washington.
"I literally met him in the parking lot of the TV station," Cherise recalled. "I remember thinking 'Wow, he's really cute.'"
Men's attire: Richard and the groomsmen wore Vera Wang tuxedos from Men's Wearhouse.
Music: DJ Kenny Koonga provided the music. The couple's first dance was to "You're My Music" by Brian Culbertson featuring Noel Gourdin.
Food and dessert: The Royal Sonesta catered the wedding. Appetizers included scallops wrapped in bacon and tiger shrimp tempura with avocado salsa. Dinner consisted of Chesapeake chicken topped with lump crabmeat and Old Bay imperial sauce, served with Old Bay "thrasher" potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
The couple also served a lemon cake with buttercream and raspberry preserves from Simply Desserts in Columbia.
Favors: The couple handed out chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookies by From Momma's Kitchen as favors.
Special touches: The officiant for the wedding was Tim Tooten Sr., a longtime reporter at WBAL. The emcee was Gwen Tolbart, a weather reporter at Fox 5 in Washington.
