Madison remembers seeing David for the first time.

"He was cute," she recalled. "I started talking to his friends, and we were introduced."

The two started dating shortly after that. While David was in Baltimore, they spent a lot of time together. They continued to date when David returned to Colorado, where he was stationed.

The couple live in Belton, Texas.

The proposal: Madison said she had an idea that he was going to propose before he popped the question June 22, 2014.

"I picked out the ring with my mom," she said with a laugh.

When David came to visit her one weekend — he was living in Denver at the time while she was living in Baltimore — she put two and two together.

"We went to lunch with my mom," she said. "We came back to my cousin's house, and he proposed. I was excited even though I knew it was coming."

Venue: One hundred-forty people attended the wedding at the Dye House at Mount Washington Mill.

Flowers and decor: They used two florists — Little Greenhouse for "tons" of orchids, and Amaryllis in Landover for the rest of the flowers, which included assorted roses and peonies.

Her dress: Madison wore a tulle ball gown with a sweetheart neckline and floral, beaded belt from the Legends collection by Romona Keveza. She purchased the dress at Betsy Robinson's Bridal Collection.

Bridesmaids' attire: Bridesmaids chose from charcoal gray tulle dresses by Jenny Yoo, which were then customized.

Men's attire: David and the groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos from Tuxedo House.

Music: The band, Black Tie, played Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me" for the couple's first dance.

Food and dessert: Linwoods catered the event. Hors d'oeuvres included mustard-crusted lamb lollipops, tuna tacos, crab cakes and a spring salad. The main entree was pan-seared sea bass and tenderloin served with fingerling potatoes and asparagus.

The wedding cake was from Debi's Cake Studio. The top two layers were carrot cake — David's favorite dessert.

Special touches: The couple's friend Jill Weinstein officiated the wedding. "She was amazing," Madison said.

The couple is in the process of deciding a honeymoon location.
