His story: Scott Hasselberger, 30, was born and raised in Baltimore. He works as a facility maintenance technician for the Maryland Transportation Authority. His mother, Carol Wajbel, lives in Baltimore. His father, Jim Hasselberger, lives in Glen Burnie.
Their story: The couple met online through OKCupid on Jan. 8, 2014. Their first date was shortly thereafter; they had dinner at The Prime Rib at Maryland Live Casino.
"My initial impressions of Scott was that he was really cute, had big blue eyes, shy and reserved," Jacklyn said. "Little did I know — that's not Scott.
"At first he was very shy, nervous and reserved. He hadn't been on a date in over five years, so he didn't know what to expect. Once I got to know him, I realized he's very outspoken, adventurous and funny. The more we talked, the more relaxed he became."
By the Fourth of July weekend of that year, they had told each other they were in love.
They live in Brewers Hill.
The proposal: The couple got engaged on July 17 of last year at the scene of their first date — Maryland Live.
"It was on the roof of the parking garage where we first met," Jacklyn recalled. "I was excited and shaking. As much as I knew it was coming, it now felt real. He had tricked me to go there, telling me we were meeting a co-worker of his."
After the proposal, the couple ate at Bobby's Burger Palace, where Jacklyn called all her friends and told them the news.
Venue: About 170 guests attended the wedding and reception at the B&O Railroad Museum's Roundhouse.
Flowers and decor: The flowers were ordered from Costco and assembled by Scott's mother. She also made the bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres.
The color scheme was purple, black and gold.
Bride's dress: Jacklyn purchased her Mori Lee ballgown from Love it! at Stella's in Westminster.
"I have always pictured myself in a big ballgown, and with a winter wedding it seemed appropriate," she said. "This was the first dress I tried on and didn't want to try on anymore after this first one."
Bridesmaids' dresses: Bridesmaids wore long, black, strapless crinkle chiffon dresses with cascade skirts from David's Bridal.
Men's attire: Scott and the groomsmen wore suits from Men's Wearhouse with purple vests and ties. Scott and Jacklyn's fathers wore gold vests and ties.
Music: Greg Jellick with Cosmic Sounds Entertainment provided the music. The couple's first dance was to "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?" by Rod Stewart.
Food and dessert: Atlantic Caterers provided the food. The menu consisted of Caesar salad, chicken Marsala, shrimp fettuccine, prime rib, mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.
Yia Yia's Bakery made the cake, which consisted of orange cream, red velvet and peanut butter layers with a buttercream icing.
Favors: Each table also was adorned with white chocolates for guests to take as favors.
Special touches: The couple went to Sandals Ochi in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, for seven nights for their honeymoon.
