Cheryl Conner, 36, loves to work out. And a good workout is what the ABC2News reporter got at the Black Tie and Tails Gala that raised money for the care of animals at the Baltimore Humane Society no-kill shelter in Reisterstown.
You can thank her "date," her 6-month-old goldendoodle, Coco, whose non-stop energy meant Conner had to dig in her kitten heels throughout the night, reigning in a pooch who was interested in everything and everybody.
Ironically, this particular night aside, Conner said she's found that ever since getting Coco last November her time at the gym near her Annapolis home has actually taken a hit.
"Getting a dog, you'd think you'd be working out more. You're definitely out walking; you're out more," she said. "But I have learned to share my time. And I didn't have to do that before. He's like a dependent. So I can't go to the gym right after work. I have to go home first.
"And then it's hard to get back out to the gym," she added with a rueful smile.

HER TV FASHION RULES: "I like going for color. On the news especially, you need different colors, or you look the same every night. Blues and greens show up really well on me."
HER SHOPPING RULES: "I am definitely a bargain shopper. So, if there's a coupon and a sale, they will definitely bring me in. ... It's a hobby. If I can go to the [Premium] Outlets, which aren't too far from where I live and go at a time when you know they're doing 50 percent off the clearance, that's what I love doing. I'm not going to go to Nordstrom and buy what isn't on sale. Now, if it's on sale, I'll look at it. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I bought something that wasn't on sale."
