The Chocolate Affair was a perfect fit for Tammy Janus. She is all about dressing up.
The Fallston resident said she has a reputation in her job as senior vice president of human resources at Mercy Medical Center of never going casual.
"At work, they tease me because they think I never dress down. I love to dress up. [Even] when it's casual day, I still have to come in in slacks and high heels and a fun blouse," she said. "I will never be caught in flats. And I do not like tennis shoes. I have a pair of tennis shoes for the treadmill and the gym. And that's it."
Even when the 47-year-old was a cheerleader in high school, she said, the only time she wore sneakers was with the uniform.
"There are people who have known me my whole life and have yet to see me in casual" attire, she said.
HER STYLE: "Somewhat conservative with youthful touches. … As I find myself aging, I'm trying to find a little bit of youthfulness I can play into without looking like I'm trying to look like someone in my 20s."
HER ENSEMBLE: SL Fashions chocolate taffeta and crepe petal layered dress with rose crystal embellished neckline, and Jones New York deep purple, gray and coffee chunky stretch cuff and matching earrings from Macy's. Movado watch from Jared. Black sheer stockings. Me Too black patent leather round toe platform pumps from DSW. Black patent snakeskin fold-over clutch from the Michael Kors store.
HER FASHION BAROMETER: "My 15-year-old daughter, Alyssa. If she's wearing something, then I know I probably should not be wearing it. … But she'll come into Ann Taylor with me and tell me, 'I love that on you, Mom. That looks great.' … I wasn't doing leggings and boots. But she and I went shopping at Victoria's Secret and bought some matching leggings. My boots look a little bit different from hers. I'm not wearing the UGG [boots]; they're very trendy. I like a platform or leather boot with that. [We have] a nice partnership there."
HER HIGH-FASHION ERA: "I'm a girl from the '80s. So I used to do all the Madonna stuff. I had the long earrings. I had the colored bows in my hair. I had two different-colored neon socks. I was into neon very much. And the 'Flashdance' [look]. I loved whatever was the latest and greatest trend. That was me."
