HER STORY: Casey Hughes, 26, was born and raised in Parkton. She works as a special needs teacher in Troy, Ohio. Her father, Michael Hughes, lives in Parkton. Her mother, Kim Hughes, lives in Sparks.
HIS STORY: Joe Everett, 26 was born and raised in Conover, Ohio. He works on the family farm, Everett Farms in Conover. His father, Jon Everett, lives in Conover. His mother and stepfather, Therese and Craig Tyson, live in Piqua, Ohio.
THEIR STORY: The two initially met in Virginia — where they were both living at the time — through OKCupid in June 2014.
"I thought that it would lead to nothing," Casey said. "But then we continued to talk for a couple weeks before we met."
On their first date, the two had coffee.
"He was very tall and very handsome," Casey recalled. "We ended up staying there for three hours — just talking. I didn't see him again for two weeks. And we just picked up where we left off."
"He did this about three times. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and I said yes," Casey said. "There were no tears. I was just super caught off guard. It was kind of late at night. There was a lot of excitement."
VENUE: One hundred thirty-five guests attended the wedding and reception at Liberty Mountain Resort in Carroll Valley, Pa.
DRESS: Casey wore a ballgown by Stella York, purchased at Amanda Ritchey Bridal.
BRIDESMAIDS' ATTIRE: Bridesmaids wore gold sequin gowns from Vow To Be Chic, a website.
MEN'S ATTIRE: The groom and groomsmen wore gray suits from Men's Wearhouse.
MUSIC: DJ Tommy Gunn from ThunderKiss Entertainment provided the music. The couple's first dance was to "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
FOOD AND DESSERT: Liberty Mountain Resort provided the food. Passed hors d'oeuvres included shrimp toast, beef carpaccio crostini, grilled peach bruschetta and coconut chicken tempura. For the meal, guests had a choice of beef tenderloin or chicken Oscar. The almond, strawberry and chocolate cake was provided by Main Street Sweets in Carroll Valley. Dessert also included a variety of homemade cookies prepared by the groom's mother.
FAVORS: They gave out a beverage koozie and personalized wine stopper.
SPECIAL TOUCHES: The couple honeymooned in Jamaica.
