Best chef: Cindy Wolf

The chef-owner, with business partner Tony Foreman, of fine-dining Charleston in Harbor East can be found most days in the kitchen, cooking her outstanding French-influenced Low Country cuisine. But she also mentors those in her charge. Take Mario Cano Catalan, the executive chef at the Foreman Wolf restaurant group’s Bar Vasquez. He started as a dishwasher 15 years ago at Charleston and worked his way up. Many such tales can be told of this multiple James Beard Award nominee.
