Conde Nast Traveler says the best U.S. hotel is in Baltimore

Baltimore residents don’t have to go far to stay at the best hotel in the country — it’s in their backyard. At least, that’s what Conde Nast Traveler readers say.

The Sagamore Pendry hotel in Fells Point was named the top hotel in the U.S. as part of Conde Nast Traveler’s readers’ choice awards.

The magazine unveiled its 31st annual awards earlier this week, including lists for the best cities in the world and best cities in the U.S. The lists were compiled based on data from 429,000 reader surveys.

The Pendry, at 1715 Thames St., opened in 2017, transforming a vacant pier into a posh destination that includes 128 rooms, a bar and restaurant by chef Andrew Carmellini, an infinity pool and harbor views. It became the first East Coast hotel for the boutique chain Montage Hotels & Resorts.

Other hotels on Traveler’s list of top 10 in the U.S. include properties in Chicago, Telluride, Colo., Austin, Texas, and Boston.

The Pendry also gained accolades earlier this year when it made Travel + Leisure’s list of “Best New Hotels in the World.”
