Baltimore’s Enoch Pratt Free Library made an appearance on “Good Morning America” Tuesday morning as the show featured spots on Reader’s Digest’s “10 Nicest Places in America.”
The “Good Morning America” segment highlighted the library’s efforts to go beyond its bookshelves and serve as community centers for Baltimore neighborhoods.
The library, which has 22 locations across the city, offers storytime sessions for children, social workers and a mobile job center that roams the city helping residents in search of work, among other services.
The library was named to the Reader’s Digest’s list this summer. The Baltimore institution was the only library on the list; other finalists included several cities, a street in Burbank, Calif., a Texas yoga studio and a falafel house in Tennessee.
The winning nicest place in the country will be unveiled by Reader’s Digest and Good Morning America on Thursday at 8 a.m.
